Sheepshed
Hi all, Have started losing oil from the end of the front axle - but discs are clear and not contaminated. All the oil is coming out through the rubber end cap on the hub with none inside the wheel - does this sound like the stub axle oil seal. Not sure if oil is leaking from the swivel or through from the diff? Any help appreciated.
Snagger
You need to remove the cap, clean it and the drive flange up and then refit the cap with a bead of RTV silicon sealant. The hub seal is inboard, and would contaminate the inside face of the brakes.
mmgemini
That's good..At least the flange splines are being lubricated. As has been said. Cap off and clean, check for splits, any splits then renew the cap. Make sure that the hub face where the cup its is clean. A drop of EP90 in the cap before fitting helps the splines. Now check the axle breathers just to make sure they aren't blocked.
