Transfer noise

Recommended Posts

Also, remember it's normal for all moving parts of Land Rovers to emit noise (and lots of it), even when new. Be more alarmed at sudden increases or changes of noise. Even if you do have a noisy box it might run for quite while.

Idling and in neutral my gearbox makes an awful bearing noise, and if I put the transfer in neutral and clutch up in gear it's even worse :P

When it breaks I'll fix it, until then I'm just going to keep the oils in check and take it gently.

I'm sure the boxes didn't do that from new. i've tried when i got my Td5 at new and i didn't have this terrible rattling noises.

yup, gentle on the clutch, no harm will be done. if you can ignore the whine, it will drive well. if not SGD$2k will fix it. [now where did the year end bonus go?]
