jmattley
Hi all, in the last couple of months my MPG on my 200tdi has been around the 20-25 mark which is a bit carp considering it was about 30-35 not long ago. I do drive round on 235x85 mud tyres but it was still around the 32 mark with them before. Anyone got any thoughts on why this is happening at all? If it helps, I've used about 40L of bio diesel 2 months back but that was it, not changed the fuel filter yet, but surely that couldn't affect it right? Anyone else had this problem? Cheers! landroversforever
Have you changed the fuel filter at all since? If so then my guess would be the fuel filter.
jmattley
No it's not been changed for about 2 months since I first put some bio through it. I haven't used bio for about a month now either. I'll give the filter a change tomorrow and see if that works then. If not, any other ideas?
landroversforever
I would have a look over the turbo/intercooler hoses. Collapsed maybe?
discomikey
have you noticed any more smoke than usual? if so it could be the hoses/air filter blocked
jmattley
I don't think so, but I shall also check that tomorrow, it seems to drive pretty normally though.
landroversforever
Any other mods you did about the time of the change in MPG?
jmattley
Nope, non at all, just the bio fuelm which to be fair, was 100%, but that was just for 20L, then another 20L mixed with diesel. But that was about 200miles ago.
discomikey
performance could seem the same, but it might be trying to add more fuel in to compensate. working harder to keep at the right revs.
T1G UP
seems reasonable fuel consumption anyway. is bio diesel graded? just because it runs the disco doesn't mean that it will return better mpg.
doda456
Dont forget there is all the fuel sediment filter to change/ clean. Its near the rear drivers side shock
jmattley
Does the sedimenter need cleaning after putting bio through as well then?
