ady 1
Is there any issue using normal rivets to put the capping back on the tub? i think normal rivets are fine as its not a load bearing area but i could be wrong no doubt some body else will clarify this
Drizz
I meant in the corrosion ally/steel scenario
heath robinson
Ady1, Duralac is a paste that inhibits the electron transfer that causes the more reactive metal (Ally/zinc) to disappear faster when in contact with a less reactive metal (steel, especially stainless). To quote the interweb, "Duralac DTD369B is a chromate containing jointing compound designed to inhibit electrolytic decomposition between dissimilar metals – often called galvanic corrosion." It's available form chandlers, and the Bay of E, about a tenner a tube plus postage IIRC. I'm not planning to take my cappings off, so I'm afraid I haven't considered the conundrum of rivets. western
just use the rivets as listed on pages 875 & 876, items 4,10,12 & 20 dip in duralac then fit to the vehicle, wipe off excess duralac when all are fitted.
Mo Murphy
There is no problem with normal pop rivets being used on the cappings. Mo
