The alterations you mention require turning the diaphragm and/or starwheel and/or max fuel screw anticlockwise. I would start with the cone on the diaphragm and the starwheel and leave the max fuel screw alone for now and see if that has the desired effect. I altered the fuel screw on the back of the pump ages ago and couldnt remember which way i turned it to up fuel.
