orange rover
what torque for the pinion nut of the rear axle RRC? the workshop manual gives a figure of 95 to 163 nm but that seems like a large range. regards orange
Mark90
I think the range is due to having to line up the castled nut to get the split pin through. The torque will go up very quicly with little turning once it become tight. Torque nut to 95Nm, then set torque wrench to 160Nm so you don't go past that figure and tighten the nut just enough to get the split pin through the next time the holes line up.
