simonr
I guess you all know what I do! Quite a cool 'job' really - I get to sit in my workshop drawing stuff on the CAD, drink gallons of coffee & diet coke, occasionally make stuff and even more occasionally flog some of the stuff I've designed! Who could ask for more! Prior to that I've been a broadcast engineer (BBC News), a project engineer, driven a dump truck, worked in a meat processing factory (I don't eat meat pies any more!), and most recently, prior to X-Eng I was a nerdy web developer. FridgeFreezer
Used to be a transmission maintenance engineer for BT (Wholesale - we don't do phones) but due to a series of unfortunate events I'm now in Product Support Engineering for our new network (21CN), it's cool if you're a nerd who likes big routers, otherwise it's very dull but the pay is good and working from home is a bonus when you have a Land Rover to support Oh and because it's been at least a week since the last major re-organisation I actually work for "BT Operate" now, or so the e-mail says. honitonhobbit
Horticulturalist, Arborist, Sylviculturalist Was a Gardener then became a Plantsman, stopped tree surgery back in the late 80's after a bad fall, concentrated on Landscaping (commercial stuff) but built roads in the far east and fireplaces in the States. Taught off road driving to HM finest as a part timer. Lantra Instructor, Ex Land Rover Experience Senior Instructor, Ex Toyota Off Road Instructor, taught basic survival techniques blah blah. Still do a bit of teaching on driving off road, winching, tractors, mowers (so I keep my qualifications up!) Ran a few expeditions for colleges and societies on and off; wrote and still write for various magazines on things 4x4 and things remote... Fatherhood made me settle down! I now work as a Contracts Manager for a commercial landscape company, mainly running new build works for large house builders or commercial developers. I cover South Wales to Oxford, Hereford to Taunton. It's a good job and I enjoy it
