orionpco
hi, i plan on converting my 64 series 2a to a 3.5liter v8. what i was wondering was if i used the series 6 cyl bulkhead would i still need to modify the bulk head for the v8 and what mods of any would be necessary from the bulkhead to the seat box. thank you guys for any and all advice. TheRecklessEngineer
Yes, mods are needed. Off the top of my head, you need to widen the bit between the foot wells - particularly the passenger side. And a new cover plate is needed to match it. Assuming you keep the gearbox the same, the tunnel and seatbox can remain standard.
landmannnn
As James says, just a little bit on the driver's side and a bit more on the passenger side. The bit of plating should really be welded although when I did it I riveted it in and welded it later. Can I shamelessly plug the radiator made to fit a seriesthat I am selling: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=55956
missingsid
You may need to trim the bottom of the bulkhead where it touches the top of the gearbox adapter depending upon the adapter used? I have a Phillips adapter and I had to shave a bit off the bottom. To cover this I used an extra piece of ally to ensure the gearbox cover fitted. If you are careful (more than me)you may not need to. Whatever you need to do will all fade away the first time you drive it with the V8. Marc.
