Mark Jenkins
If I want to fit bench seats in the back of my hardtop 90: I know I have to tell my insurers. Do I have to inform the DVLA? Can you fit seats where there are no windows in the rear? Anything else I should consider? Mark.
western
Can't se any reason why you can't fit the 2 man bench seats in the rear of your 90 hardtop, lots of them have the same fitted from new. might need lapbelts though.
landrover598
I fitted a flip up seat in the back of my hardtop yesterday, i incorporated a lap belt from a Rangy into the design. I don't see why i need to tell the DVLA, it's still got 3 seats
SteveG
Yes you can and no need to tell DVLA. Strictly in your commercial hardtop you don't need seat belts in side facing benchseats, but that is something that I personally wouldn't do. Once you fit the seats belts though they will come under MOT check. Just use front seat belts securing procedures as a guideline and replicate and you will be fine with MOT. Blippie
[...] no need to tell DVLA. You need to inform the DVLA if the number of seats change - the number of seats is listed on the V5. In an extreme example it could even change the class of vehicle - i.e. change a 110 from 6 seats to 12 and you make it a minibus, need to be 21 to drive it and a D1 licence!
