Guest diesel_jim
From what i glean from various sites, if you can get hold of a complete bulkhead (with wiring loom) it's easier to transplant the whole shebang over. Don't forget the ECU... it's programmed to the individual engine.
freeagent
its been done a lot now.. foley specialist vehicles build one offs and specials using the TD5, and i think frogs island have retro fitted one to a classic rangie... Ed Cobley (Pro-trax and LRO fame) has a TD5 powered Ibex but i know he didn't build it, it was built by an ex winch challenge competitor called Barry something.... if you are planning to put one in an ibex (saw your user name) you might be able to meet up and take some pictures..... the truck is at nearly all the shows.... Ed's one was built from a Spanish 90 bought new for the job of being stripped and turned into a Ibex the chap that built it I can't remember his name but a nice chap the immobilizer is the issue as said before the ECU is the main thing there engine dependant but if you have a mate with rover com it would probably help

dirtydiesel
I've got a td5 in a hybrid i'm building, pretty simple conversion From what i glean from various sites, if you can get hold of a complete bulkhead (with wiring loom) it's easier to transplant the whole shebang over.Don't forget the ECU... it's programmed to the individual engine. The ECU is only progammed to the injectors. Porny
The ECU is only progammed to the injectors You don't need to worry about to this to any extent... will happily run even with the wrong codes The immobiliser isnt really a problem, The real problem comes if the engine ecu and the security ecu are from different cars, but even then it's only a case of reprograming them. Very true... all you need is the ECU and the 10EAS (i think, though it's late) unit... and with the use of Rovacom or similar you can match them, and then set the ECU to the lowest level alarm set up. BogMonster
Injector grades and security reprogram is only a 5 minute job with the right kit but yes you need the right kit.
McS Junior
I put one into one into a Tomcat I bult last year... really not much harded than any other engine transplant if you have the correct software to set it up - everything can be reprogrammed - any questions just let me know.
