Whistle sound indicates a leak. Possibly manifold gasket (remember there is high pressure in the exhaust manifold pressure as well as inlet manifold when the turbo is making high boost pressure), head gasket (they often leak from rear of number 4, so feel around there while running), or hoses to/from intercooler.

A faulty fuel lift pump can lead to fuel starvation at higher loads.
