bombx3 Posted May 29, 2010 Share Posted May 29, 2010 found out why i have power issues my intercooler has to much oil in it hence the smoke some times (lots) just washed out the intercooler and loads of oil came out,the turbo blades seem nice and free with very little play on the shaft but i cant see why theres so much oil in there Does anyone understand this turbo? Lara Posted June 2, 2010 Share Posted June 2, 2010 On a diesel it is quite common to have a black and oily intercooler etc, especially as mentioned above that the breather is in the inlet. kalaharikid Posted June 3, 2010 Share Posted June 3, 2010 would this apply to 300Tdi as well, i have oil dripping from top intercooler pipe where it joins the intake manifold. turbo is new (20000 km) but i did overheat last week and had to skim the head and put new head gasket. Lara Posted June 4, 2010 Share Posted June 4, 2010 Due to the nature of turbo diesels they do tend to breath fairly heavily compared to petrol engines, so oil in the turbo pipes is common, however this should not be heavy but an accumulation over a period.
