natas
What is the best prime and paint that you have tried for the rear crossmember? Mine is flaking off in chunks and I plan to give it a scraping with a radial wire brush and re-paint it. There used to be a metal primer called Red Lead that was incredible, unfortunately it is no longer on the market. Thanks.
jbs
In the UK it's classed as red oxide primer mines made by hammerite http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=160855 I use this on my side bars(rocksliders) Then I would use perhaps the same make but Black hammerite smooth if you can get it down where you are HTH John
matthew74
I used a couple of coats of hammerite stone chip shield then some normal satin black. Matches the new mud flap brackets. Make sure you double masking tape the bodywork before you start with the wire brush to ensure you don't knick the paintwork!!
TimR
I use waxoyl. Its a bit tacky for a week or so but its a great finish and easy to touch up
natas
I used Hammerite. worked really well. I sanded it down with a wire wheel. Looking good!
