bushwhacker
Hi. I have been quite for a while Rovers going ok (touch wood). I am considering a 300 Disco are they about the same to work on as the 200, I am aware of the rot but what are the differences.
redgolf
I'd say the were easier in some respects, water pump for example , east to get at and if you had a few spanners with you, you could almost change it while waiting for the lights to change at the traffic lights.....I went for a late '97 with the R380 box and Borg Warner Transfer box which has the chain drive making it quieter ( but that's my preference )..If you can get one with no sun roofs then all the better as they all seem to leak. The water outlet is siliconed in at the factory and it eventually gives up the ghost so then needs to be taken to bits , cleande and araldited back in
bushwhacker
Thanks for the info, I nearly forgot about leaky sunrooves and my Disco 1 has 2 of the leakers. As long as the box is not like the D1 first and oops into reverse and tight to change after a scalp up the motoway I'll be happy. Shouldn't moan though 217,000 isn't to bad not all clocked by me. Andy
Reverse is behind 5th on the R380 as fitted to 300tdis. I think the R380 has fittings for a gearbox oil cooler if it takes your fancy.
