Highway_Star
Twiddling around under the bonnet, I was cleaning the ht laeds, dizzy cap, rotor arm etc, etc. Noticed there's a small amount of lateral play in the dizzy shaft, otherwise it's fine. Obviously that movement could make the rotor run eccenctrically, which can't be a good thing. So how much play is too much play? What's the cure? New dizzy? Or I wonder if it could be rebuilt/rebushed/bearinged? I have access to 3 machine shops, each run by some of the most skilled machinists our defence industry could produce (my old man, a workmate of his and their journeyman, combined age of over 200, but what they don't know know about working metal really isn't worth knowing)
