Bowie69
Jez's opinoin of the Isuzi lump in Petal was 'sludge flows in, sludge flows out'... IIRC that is. A mate nearly wrecked his engine (Mazda 2.0l petrol) because of the open timing belt.... but he just makes sure he washes it out well after off roading. He had been playing on a very wet clay site, and after leaving the truck standing, the clay dribbled down, filled the teeth on the bottom sprocket and then set hard with the engine temperature.... fortunately no piston and valve contact occurred when the belt eventually slipped As far as the Lexus lump, a guy over on LRO has dropped one into a 1972 2-door Rangie, running LPG @ 300BHP and soon to be supercharged up to 400BHP, and he wonders why he can't get gearboxes to last
Aragorn
Ye i suspect your right, i'll just have to keep a close eye on it, and wash it out if it does get clarted up with mud. Gearboxes are going to be a problem with my Audi engine i suspect. It makes 300hp, and more importantly 400NM of torque. I'm hoping a TD5 "L" suffix box will stand up to it, if not it might get expensive.
camel1
Have,nt had a problem with the time, ing covers on the Toyota engine its very well sealed the plastic covers are fitted with rubber edge,s that seem to seal very well. I also run an all,y plate cut to fit the chassis rail from the front cross member right back to a crossmember under the bellhouse, ing. Get only a small amount of dirt under the bonnet most of this comes around the coilovers. [/img]

I have a theory that LR boxes don't mind nice smooth V8's but do get upset by big lumpy diesels, I'd run it and see what happens.
