steve b
looks like it was a good event , nice to see some good old proper mud in with rockcrawling type stuff What do you know of the mid engined buggy ? btw interested to see some Bayliegh sponsor hoardings - they sell some neat fab/engineering kit - had a good chat with someone on their stand at Mach2010 Cheers Steveb
Steve_M
It was built by Off Road Armoury, I think it is a Suzuki Vitara engine and custom axles with toyota internals. There is a big article in Total Off Road magazine this month about it.
mickeyw
It was built by Off Road Armoury, I think it is a Suzuki Vitara engine and custom axles with toyota internals. There is a big article in Total Off Road magazine this month about it. The buggy had a very meaty sounding V-TEC V6, rather more potent than a Vitara I would imagine. Overall a very entertaining day. The course was very hard on the trucks, plenty of bent steering gear and radius arms, although I think the concrete pipes were mostly to blame for this. The D&G truck with Spidertrax axles even wrecked a front portal box. I'm not sure how many vehicles were still alive for Sunday's competition! I thought the guys in the Jimny did incredibly well putting a near standard car up against so much specialist builds, a fine show.
Ruuman
I went Saturday, the attrition was pretty high, I'll have a vid up soon, there was awesome mog axled thing, but it had a major failure and left earlier. http://www.offroad-armory.com/ built the buggy, lovely thing, performed very well. The poor little jimny was built 4 days before and took a proper beating I took a ton of photo's, there here if anyone wants a look http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/101497202247388631569/BritishDirt2010?feat=directlink
Steve_M
Re-reading the arcticle in TOR the engine is a 2.5 litre V6 out of a Grand Vitara, apparantly this is acutally a Mazda engine.
bathtub
I went Saturday, the attrition was pretty high, I'll have a vid up soon, there was awesome mog axled thing, but it had a major failure and left earlier. http://www.offroad-armory.com/ built the buggy, lovely thing, performed very well. The Buggy is a D&G twisted customs buggy with Spidertrax / D&G Portals . The internal Mog gears let up But it will be fixed for Manby 450Hp & a twatt driving did it !!! Great to do something different a little too much hanging around but im sure next year there get that sorted. Nice to have music at the event & commentry Chears Rob & team well done ! Rob Butler
after the slow start Saturday and course modifications on morning, we got it all running quickly and efficiently... not long after that you broke your hub... shame you didn't get to race when it was in full flow! especially on Sunday, whole sets of heats were taking no more that 30 Min's... But with breakages and the front flip with the Jimny, there were a few delays here and there... Now we know exactly how to build the course correctly right off the bat and how to run the format correctly without delays... Meaning we'll be able to nail it spot on for the next event. Unfortunately the mic broke so it's missing sound. I really liked the start of the course where it was head to head against the two trucks, the bog went down really well, though I feel sorry for your winch bitch!!
