Marco
Hi, I'm a bit in a hurry to finish my 88 2a project, consider to buy glazed door tops to save time. Main question are they any good or should I better spent time on fitting the glass myself + paint the inside properly? Paddock Glazed door top Cheers Marco
FridgeFreezer
If the "G" in the part# really does stand for genuine parts then that seems a bargain, glazing door tops is a PITFA so I'd call that a bargain if it's a genuine one. If it's pattern from Paddocks it might not be such a bargain...
David Sparkes
If you are in a hurry, buy the glazed door tops. It will enable you to enjoy your car on the road. After about 24 months you will start to appreciate the longer life that comes with either expensive Rocky Mountain aluminium doortops, or the benefits that come from building your own, by ensuring surfaces are painted, by using stainless steel screws, and by soaking the runners in Waxoyl, or a Dinitrol product, so the metal inside doesn't go rusty (as quickly). By buying the ready glazed tops you are buying speed to completion. As that's what you want it's a reasonable spend, but with limitations. If you want speed AND long life (in good condition, not looking tatty after 24 months) then you have to spend more money. What is right for you? Good Luck
Marco
Thanks guys :-) Guess 'G' is for glazed... normally genuine but that can't be true.. my car will spend most of it's life indoors so might be able to extend the 24 Month lifespan :-) Cheers Marco
FridgeFreezer
Nothing stopping you squirting waxoyl or whatever into the frame before fitting.
Steve_M
I had some of these on my last truck, they seemed to be ok although I do seem to remember that the push up window lock needed a bit of adjustment to work properly. The Rocky Mountain door tops are much nicer, a friend of mine bought these at about the same time, but they are a lot more expensive.
