I've come in for a cuppa and a packet of biscuits cos' i've got the hump with these blinkin bellhousing bolts. Top three are out, 30 min each..........how do you get to the one with the wiring loom retainer on it, offside one down from top...??? blisters and expletives exhausted!

any ideas...i will be chopping out the rusty exhaust pipe shortly so that'll be out the way....

Cheers all..

Phil

Drop the engine as far as you can, pull all the sound insulation out and use lots of wobble bars from underneath - much, much easier if you've got a second person to guide the socket on (following your instructions, because they won't be able to see what they're doing...). Fun, isn't it?? :(

Option 2: Get a discovery. Lots more room on them...

My rangie had some before the engine change. When we started fitting the new engine we realised that if we put the insulation back before fitting the engine we couldn't get our hands in to refit the bell housing bolts. If we did the engine first, there was no way we would get the insulation back in past the bolts and clips...so we chucked it in the bin, and quite frankly I can't tell the difference.

Ah ha, well here's hoping the 200 Tdi isn't louder than the V8...???

At last I now have a twin engined sankey trailer!! Well two engines in it, thanks for the advice Geoff, all bolts and engine fully out now! Just waiting on the conversion plate and clutch to arrive to get Tdi in...! Well it's easy int it??

Cheers

I suspect it will be...nasty rattly noise too. How could you do that to an innocent Range Rover? :(

Not sure how the 200Tdi sits in a rangie, but you might well have plenty of space to fit soundproofing anyway if you want it.
