Disco 1 tow mounts

Ok here one for you, been doing my rear chassis/ body mounts this weekend and although that went fine the tow bar mounts on the chassis sheared the bolts when I removed it.

I have tried knocking them out after stacks of Plusgas and even tried heat but all to no avail, it's the same both sides, my next move is to cut off the mounts from the chassis and form new one's, unless someone here has a better idea :)

That happened to me, I tried to drill it out but the bolts are very strong and to took forever to drill out. Also I ended up making a mess and missing slightly and drilled down the side of the bolt. I wouldn't recomend the drilling technoique but no idea how else to get the bolts out.

As a thourght you could look to possibly get a detachable drop plate on for example a rear tank guard. I don't know if this may be suitable for you with what you use your motor for or a cost you want to take but it's just an option.

Cheers

Ryck

I must admit it is one thing I have been looking at, the other is cut them off and fab new one's, at least I can beef them up a bit and use 10mm bolts

Had the same problem on mine a couple of years ago, I had to get them off to fit a tank gaurd as that was also bolted there, in the end fount it quicker to cut them off with the grinder & fabricte new ones with steel pipe & some 5mm steel at each side welded to the chassis

Hope that helps & good luck.
