fitting a viscous transfer box

hi all . iv got a defender 110 td5 with a discovery 2 auto box. im putting a viscous transfer box on. i havnt bought one yet so i am looking for one. my other problem is that i dont know whether the high and low lever mechanisms are the same as the ones on a defender.. anyone know?

No, they are different. On the pics below you see an LT77 w/ the mechanism of an LT230 and a 4HP22 with an LT230 fitted but still the mechanism for the Borg&Warner box on it. You've already fitted an AT to you Td5? So you had to relocate the mechism anyhow. Maybe it works to adjust the mechism as it is similar. And remove the linkage for the diff lock

But why will you go from an LT230 to the Borg Warner? The Brog Warner is much weaker...

Use the high/low lever assembly and connecting rod off the 4HP22 auto box (bottom picture above). This will put the control in the same location as for the R380.

The Borg Warner is a good choice in a 110 as it eliminates the tendency to spin the front wheels during up hill starts in the wet, offers a slightly higher drive ratio and quieter cruising. Fitted one to mine ~50K miles ago and wouldn't change back.
