Retroanaconda
Is anyone considering 'not planning' a green-laning/camping trip this year like in previous years? Keep looking at pictures of magnificent views etc. from lanes in Wales/other places and dreaming
ThreeSheds
Is anyone considering 'not planning' a green-laning/camping trip this year like in previous years? Keep looking at pictures of magnificent views etc. from lanes in Wales/other places and dreaming I missed last years due to head gasket (or lack of) - I set out and got about ten miles... Only been greenlaning once a couple of years ago and I had a great time so if there is another one I would definitely be up for it. Anderzander
I'm often out in the lakes and would be happy to not arrange anything for any forum folk who wanted to travel there....
GBMUD
I was half thinking about it, but where? Would be nice to go somewhere we have not been. Chris
Retroanaconda
Depends on who is going, for example I haven't been anywhere! But I see what you mean, perhaps a poll or something could be used to help decide?
Anderzander
Where were the previous ones again? I remember Deryshire was the last one.
disco_al
IIRC wasn't there one to Strata last year??? Would be interested in doing some soon, not had chance to play with the Disco since i got it - apart from repairing it - and would be good to put the off road bits to good use now that i've got some. Has South Wales been done???
pete300tdi90
id like to meet some forum people, would be nice to see who is a life saver when my 90 breaks down and i dont know how to fix it. haha
V8 Freak
I know of a few that you haven't organised Chris... Xmas run around on Salisbury Plain Mid Wales Lake District Derbyshire North Wales Where is left with good opportunities for lanes ? Neil
GBMUD
I wondered about Suffolk/Norfolk, and having chatted with SteveG (who used to do off-road and green laning ;p), he thought that there would be enough lanes to keep us busy in that area. V8 Freak
Would be very pleasant countryside indeed.. The lack of mountains / tight brown lines on the OS maps might reduce the interest for some, but there are a load of nice pubs all over East Anglia... There is always an opportunity to go to the seaside too ! Neil
mickeyw
Last November was North Wales - a very enjoyable weekend. I'd definitely be up for another trip - as long as it's not to Scotland. That'd just be too many tanks of V8 juice away
Retroanaconda
Plus the legal situation with Public ROWs in Scotland doesn't bear thinking about South Wales, East Anglia, Lakes, Peaks, it's all good with me. I just want to do a bit of social laning for once, somewhere more interesting that the Surrey Hills!
L19MUD
Norfolk/Suffolk sounds good to me as I'm based in Ipswich There are not that many lanes in Suffolk that i know of that are a decent length/close together but I think there are quite a few in Norfolk. (especially around the Thetford forest area which is really nice). I also agree it would be nice to meet up with people who I have leant lots from in the last few months! disco_al
Distance would be an issue for me - especially travelling to Norfolk for a weekend. South Wales, Somerset - or anywhere along the M5 corridor would be fine, even the Welsh coast at a push. Would love to do some proper laning and have a chuckle
Anderzander
Distance would be an issue for me - especially travelling to Norfolk for a weekend. Google tells me it's a 5 Hour drive for me
GBMUD
The lack of any hills in Norfolk does concern me a bit. How about south Wales then, staying south of a line between, say, Brecon and Llandovery? Anyone know many lanes in that area? I have done very little laneing in that area - a few lanes round Abergavenny is about it. Chris
Paul Humphreys
Not as much down south wales. But a very nice, almost too nice, camp site here http://www.wyesidecamping.co.uk/ lets you go north/south or stay mid wales. Paul
Retroanaconda
South or Mid Wales sounds good, Strata Florida's in that area isn't it? And part of Sarn Helen?
Paul Humphreys
Strata is down that way, so it part of Sarn, also the Gap road (I am not going into if it is legal or not ) But lots of stuff. I might be off down that way next weekend. BTW the camp site is ok with 4x4s and is very clost to the pubs/b&bs. Paul
Turbocharger
Norfolk's a long way for me, but obviously that makes it nearer for other people. The scenery can't be as good anywhere that "higher ground" refers to the tops of roundabouts though... I'd happily revisit our trip to Rhayader at Wyeside (Paul's link above). There's room for a good group and we only covered half of what we hoped in two days, so there's plenty left. October would coincide with the open dates for the Gap too, unless Paul knows something I don't?
Retroanaconda
October sounds as good as any other time, I'll be hoping to take the Series III so gives me time to kit it out a bit for 'comfort'
tommi
I would definately be up for a trip, providing I can get the weekend off. I missed last years meet due to work
max-ie
Count me in. Mid/ north wales or lakes would be good. It would be great to meet up and have a laugh when i get stuck.
M&S
The lakes would be good for me, although I'd need to know dates before confirming anything. Thouroughly enjoyed the Derbyshire trip when that was on. I do remember that it needed to include a hotel though as not everyone wants to camp/caravan. In fact 90% of folk stayed in the hotel.
