hello all

i want to remove the dynamo, convert it to negative earth and put a alternator on my 2.25 petrol 2a

iv taken off the dynamo hoping to adapt the mounting to fit a alternator but found that its part of the block

ive thought of a way i can mount the alternator on it but the pully will be about 2-3 inches behind the belt line

can i make up a extention bar and mount the pully onto this to bruing it in line or will this be a bit of a bodge and summin end up flying off?

i was thinking bout a inch solid bar machined to fit the pully and then have a male and female thread on the ends?

or is there any other way to mount the alternator?

the alternator i will be using is from a ford and is a 70a one

thanks

I made up a conversion for a tractor (no offence intended!) years ago. One flat bar with

lugs to mate with the block mount and another similar to fit the alternator. Then just slid the alternator into line with the drive pulley, clamped, removed and welded the two together. Just a suggestion.

The S3 bracket bolts to the front of the block and has a bolt thro the original block lug, it will even fit a 2ltr diesel block from the 1950's.
