crankcase breather?

Recommended Posts

On a 200tdi if i no longer have a standard airbox where should i put the crankcase breather pipe to? I'v just left it open to atmosphere but i got thinking and thought there must be a better option?

Cheers, Brian

I suggest into any hose / pipe before the turbo? Where did your air filter assembly go?

It's got one of those cone filter things on...

Like a K&N? On my Series I did route a crankcase breather hose into a K&N by drilling a hole in the metal top cover + fitted a connector for a hose. Maybe such a solution can work for you? Alternatively you can route the pipe into e.g. the chassis / atmosphere (previously used method on my Turbo Diesel) but that will be bit messy.

Cheers

The whole purpose is to burn off the oil mist/vapour coming out, so you don't contaminate the roads etc. you could put another small filter on the end of your breather, but you'll just have to keep an eye on it for blocking up.
