jdixon7
Hi Looking for some local knowledge for a Swindon Club trip. About four years ago I did a run down to Bath and had a great day on the lanes. I'm looking to do another day out and would appriciate any local knowledge as to TRO's closures etc re the lanes around Peasedown St John, Midford and I remember a steepish track with a large pipe to climb over anyone know where this is? Thanks John
Turbocharger
ISTR the Midford lane was blocked by a fallen tree for a number of years, but it looked clear the last time I walked it, from memory. When're you thinking of doing this? I used to go laning around Bath quite regularly, and it'd be good to get back down there if you need someone to lead a group and I'm free? SPendrey
If we stick to plan, it'll be this Sunday, 10th Oct... however, I'm hoping the group will consider the following Sunday 17th :-)
landroversforever
Well I can't do either . But my rear prop isn't up to a motorway jaunt at the moment
Turbocharger
I can do this Sunday, but not the next one. I know where the pipe is, and a few narrow lanes and rocky climbs. So long as people are willing to turn back rather than damage the lanes after the rain we've had recently, I can show three people a decent day out. jbs
I thought the lanes around Somerset and that bath area were no longer in existence-et al the new classifications etc ? I'm from Frome(when I'm in country) and it would be nice to go off somewhere local to me to do some laning-even though I live quite close to the Plain and have used it for ages but the small group I lane with (3 of us +attachments sometime's) are getting a little bored of it now so having something other that the plain to use locally to me would be a right bonus John
jdixon7
Hi I was hoping we could make it the 17th, we can discuss it tonight. Hi Turbo can you post or PM the pipe lane, I have a list of the OS Refs for about a dozen lanes but looking at the ariel views its not as I recall. Thought it might be the one that comes out on Kilkenny Lane? The one at Midford I recall as a steep rocky climb got very narrow and I think we turned back. Turbocharger
Well, you've inspired me, so I'm going to drive some of these lanes tomorrow, starting in Bath about 11am. Drop me a PM quick if anyone wants to join me!
