Ajlorton
Hi, Can someone tell me what size socket I need to use in order to remove the crank bolt from a 2.25 series petrol engine? Can someone also tell me in which direction this will undo? Does anyone near Swindon have such a socket that I could borrow briefly? Thanks! Ant. Tonk
i'd imagine its the same size as the 2.25 diesel, if so it is 41mm, undo anti clockwise
Les Henson
If it has the starter dog on it, then a deep socket as well. Les.
Ajlorton
Well, I guess that a petrol is indeed different to a diesel as my lovely brand new 41mm deep impact socket doesn't quite fit. Maybe it's actually 42mm. Can't buy that though until I've sold the 41mm socket. Any takers?
simonb
Erm won't it be imperial rather than metric? lent mine to a mate at the mo but i think its 1" and 13/16th or something like that, steve_a would you like to check
Les Henson
I think I have a socket that size, but not deep. Has yours got the starter dog on it Ant? If not, then a standard socket should fit. Les.
Ajlorton
>> Erm won't it be imperial rather than metric? Well, I did wonder, but followed Tonk's advice. >> Has yours got the starter dog on it Ant? Unortunately yes. If yours won't fit, I'll grind the damn starter dog bit off and buy a new bolt for when it goes back together.
