Warning Parking in London seriously damages your truck!!

Recommended Posts

Here is a mate of mine being towed away!!!

pt.jpg

HERES WHAT HAPPENED....

He paid and displayed (£6.50) in Charlottte Street at 8.30 and went for a coffee to wait for his client to arrive at his office.

It seems that the blind traffic warden didnt see the ticket, and Mate hears the alarm go off on his truck.. rushes out to the street to see this!

While 8 or so chumps from the council gather around scratching their heads watching the diesel, brake and clutch fluid pour on to the street, he phoned the fire brigade to mop up the mess and rescue his truck.

The Fire brigade got it down without inflicting more damage than the council already had... scratches, dents, brakes and fluids will need seeing to, but his laptop didnt fare too well.

It fell from its hiding place and went hit the back door, smashing the screen!

He sent me this photo and story as it will be appearing in the papers tomorrow!!

Still Camdens insurers should be able to help!!

Can someone make the pic bigger??

Thanks

Mandy.

:o what the ?!?!?!?!?!

surely not only is the truck likely to be bent on the outside but what about messing up the engine oil and other fluids inside??? <---- ah, you sneak - you editted the post as I was responding; that's not cricket you know!

surely you can take the vehicle removers to court over any damage caused? <--- same here.

(I seem to be using 'surely' rather a lot today, )

Screwed up good and proper on that lift, lets hope he had it stuck to the window and not lying on the dash or something, the councils like to pull the "yeah you may have brought the ticket, but we couldn't see it so nerr nerr ney nerr nerr" card :(

Deffinatly send it to Top Gear, maybe watchdog too. Unfortunatly, both the contractor and the council will say the ticket wasn't visible and then its two people's word against each other. He could probably try to get some money for unreasonable handling of the vehicle although these people do say they are not laible for damage incured. Whatever happens it won't be easy to get money. In the end it may be better to claim through insurance and let the insurance company sue the contractor; my parents had this a couple of years ago when a watermain burst on their street in London damaging some celars under the road. The insurance company paid up them sued the water company. However, if the insureres won't do that the only thing to do is hound the contractor and the council and accept nothing less than full payment and compensation until you get it; the only way to do it is to fight hard and to keep on at them.

They must have a duty of care whatever they do so liability will be available. They will probably offer a settlement with a compromise agreement to gag you from further discussion.

The photo is worth some money, so make sure you have copyright before you sell it to the media.

They can't just say "we are not liable for damage" and get away with it.

They won't want a court case/judgement as this will create a precident if there is not one already.

Check that the recovery operator has had the necessary training for the lifting of such specific vehicles.

You could argue that the lift in such a way dislogded the ticket to the back of the vehicle, should they argue the point.

Also ticket wardens often take photo's of the ticket location or lack of it to prove their case, so be careful where you say the ticket was situated.

Then Go to the HSE

The lorry was not suitable for its job there for a clear breach on work equipment regs and a clearly a method statement and Risk Assessments was not done otherwise they would have known that a LR90 it too heavy for them to lift

Clearly a Dangerous occurrences in a public area without any fencing or protection for the public.

So much can be pinned on them for this

They really don't care what they do, do they? Then they say things like "We are not liable for any damages caused..." bunch of cowboys!

What a disaster , I hope that you get everything sorted out with little hassle, it just shows how ridiculus this country is becoming with its obsession with making people unhappy and stressed .......

Wants to make sure he gets extra pennies for having his limited edition un-replaceable tomb raider damaged causing sleepless nights and flashbacks  .Sure there will be pictures in a ecomentalists file saying how the vicious 4x4 leapt out and attacked the defenceless towtruck as it was minding its own business :D
