Smokydiesel
Hi, On the back of my 200 tdi injectionpump is a rubber "thing". On this picture it is right in the middle, looking a bit like a miniature spark plug cap..... The end of the tiny tube seems to be cut of at some point. Does anyone know what's it for ? Thanks ! disco111
Hallo,it must be a breather pipe on the backside of the actuatormembraan above. If I'm correct,it is best to turn it with the rubber pipe down. Martin Gent Belgium
western
mines been off for ages, had no undue affect oon the FIP/drivability. IIRC it's just a weather cover for the full load adjuster.

No it is the air inlet/outlet for below the boost diaphragm. The problem CAN happen if you are wading. If you you on and off of boost, it sucks air into the FIP. If you fill it full of muddy water, you won't be happy.

Milemarker Type S
As above it is a breather that if left open can allow water etc into the fuel pump- not good. Barbed fitting are available to allow the rubber end to mate to the normal breather hose used in wading kits so it can be joined to the rest for the breather hoses. Ruuman
it's worth squirting some WD in the hole under the rubber thing now and again, keeps the boast pin nice and free. I've had to pull apart 3 fuel pumps because cack has got in via the breather
