I have the chance to buy an lt77 gearbox for my defender 200 tdi (disco engined) Not sure about the year of the vehicle or engine. BUT my box which is in there at the mo makes a real screaming noise in reverse only ? In all other gears it is fine. So I am at a loss.My question is that the G/box I can buy is from a Range Rover so is this a straight swap 1 out 1 in ? or have I got to cut this move that etc, etc, Please help as I am running out of time to buy this 1 . western Posted December 9, 2010 Share Posted December 9, 2010 not a straight swap, you'd be much better off sourcing a 90/110 LT77 the RR/Disco variant will need work internally to make it fit in the same way as the current LT77, plus the gearlever mechanism is different too.
