scabbydisco Posted December 17, 2010 Share Posted December 17, 2010 turned on my headlight switch to driving lights and the headlights flicker on and off in time to the rapid clicking noise under the passenger side dashboard. any ideas guys ? 1994 discovery 300 tdi. changed the alternator last night-was squealing like a banshee and making rattling noises, but still working ok. what a difference! lovely quiet engine! thanks in advance guys. Sounds like the headlight relay to me, find the clicking relay, clean the contacts, if it persists, swap it out with one of the others if you can, and that should cure it. sutty_32 Posted December 18, 2010 Share Posted December 18, 2010 Would sound to me like a buggered relay, or bad earth to the relay. Not heard of this before though. scabbydisco Posted December 26, 2010 Author Share Posted December 26, 2010 turns out it was due to a defective headlight bulb-main beam had gone out l/h side, but due to daylight driving with lights on didn't notice till someone pointed it out. new bulb=everything in the garden's rosy!
