Ford Prefect
Can I use an AEU1828 cv in my 1991 Range Rover that used to have ABS? I want to get rid of the 32 spline cvs. I have 24/23 spline inner axles and an ARB locker but need to figure out what else to use. My understanding is that series III V8 stubs and cvs are the same as 110/90 Land Rovers except a little longer. These are a bolt in swap to the Rangie. If all I need to do is shorten the stub axle and outer axle and cut a new cir-clip groove then I end up with a cheap upgrade. I already have all the parts I need plus spares. Anybody out there done this? Mark
landroversforever
I would look at getting the AEU2522 As fitted to early 110/90. They are supposed to be the strongest LR CVs. But with your 32 spline stub axles, you would need to change them for longer ones.
Ford Prefect
Hi Ross. Thanks for the reply. I already have two complete diff assemblies from ex army 109 V8 Land Rovers. The AEU1828 is meant to be exactly the same as the AEU2522 apart from shaft length. I would prefer to use what I have if I can. Machine work is free while new parts cost. pugwash
Hey Ford Prefect parts for Stage 1 V8s are very very rare- you could be better of flogging the CVs and then buying some 252s
Ford Prefect
Hi Jim. They are common as muck in New Zealand at the moment. The Army is/has updated its fleet getting rid of hundreds of 109 V8 Land Rovers. The Diffs I have are off Land Rovers wrecked during army training manoeuvres many years ago and sold off for scrap. The cost of sending parts over to you guys would be ridiculous.
