ABS problems Range Rover Classic

rods

Recommended Posts

I have a 1992 Range Rover Classic 3.9SE. The ABS warning light kept coming on intermittently. The garage said that I needed a new ABS unit. I actually bought a new ABS pump (with relay). I could not buy the ABS unit but found a second hand one (Part number NTC5921). However, when the garage fitted it they are unable to bleed the system. They believe that the 2nd hand part is faulty so I am trying to find another one.

So, can anyone please throw any light (information) on what the problem may be or how to diagnose it?

Does anyone have a 2nd hand NTC5921?

Thanks

These units are notoriously difficult to bleed, even following the workshop manual they often will not bleed the front circuits properly.

Follow the official workshop manual instructions TO THE LETTER, with a decent pressure bleeder and you should be OK, I found my brakes firmed up a lot after a short drive too.

Are they a LR specialist?
