reb78
I cant quite convince myself that the leak on my LT230 transfer box is the intermediate shaft and there dont seem to be traces of a leak from higher up (i.e. input seal). I have the 'usual' drips on the cover plate bolts that many of us experience, and have to top up about 100ml- 150ml of oil a month. The leak doesnt seem to be related to mileage, just time. Before i mess around dropping the box and changing seals, i just wondered if i should try renewing the seal on the cover plate (again) and cleaning the threads and using a threadlock/sealant on the bolts. What would be the best product best for this purpose? I will also do the same on the lower bolt that holds the gearbox casing to the transfer box. Jeff Young
I'd use hylomar on the cover plate and loctite green on the (well-cleaned) threads. Jeff.
