The Shire's are a friendly bunch and I don't think there are too many rules for this event, You can probably run as a team of two or even three. I did the last one solo with my daughter (8) as winch bitch though we only used the winch to assist others If you want ateam mate I'm sure you will be able to team with someone when you get there.
