rusty_wingnut
Is it possible to fab up some engine mounts for a V8 to mount onto a 300tdi chassis. Reason being, I don't want to modify the chassis
Off Road Toad
I looked at this when i converted my 300 tdi and i don't think its possible. The V8 mounts are way further forward on the chassis rail than the 300's. i was hoping to leave the 300 mounts (not the whole rubber thing obviously) on my chassis in case i got sick of the V8 and wanted to change back but sadly even that wasn't possible as they fouled exhaust headers. Retroanaconda
I assume your reasoning for not wanting to cut it about is as it's galvanised? You could possibly drill and tube the chassis, and fabricate a bolt-on version of the V8 mount. This may cause less galvanising disturbance than welding the mounts on. Failing that, perhaps some sort of mount that clamped around the chassis?
yella 90
i altered my mounts when i fitted a td5 i just sprayed the welded area with cold galv spray obviously you cant sort out the inside of the chassis but hey ho
rusty_wingnut
not just galv that's a problem, it the powder coat on top. I don't want to disturb it and end up having to get the area recoated
