V8 engine on 300tdi mounts..?

Recommended Posts

I looked at this when i converted my 300 tdi and i don't think its possible. The V8 mounts are way further forward on the chassis rail than the 300's. i was hoping to leave the 300 mounts (not the whole rubber thing obviously) on my chassis in case i got sick of the V8 and wanted to change back but sadly even that wasn't possible as they fouled exhaust headers.

I assume your reasoning for not wanting to cut it about is as it's galvanised?

You could possibly drill and tube the chassis, and fabricate a bolt-on version of the V8 mount. This may cause less galvanising disturbance than welding the mounts on. Failing that, perhaps some sort of mount that clamped around the chassis?
