Sammy_D
Hey guys. I stupidly broke my light cluster! Just a simple question...... Is the light in the picture I took the same as the ebay link. Bear in mind my defender is a 1994 reg! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WIPAC-NAS-Stop-Tail-light-LandRover-Defender-90-Td5-NEW-/230625849408?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35b25f3040 Thanks Sammy D
western
Yes, known as the Land Rover NAS lights, Perei make the original units [also known as LEP] & available in led form too. I'm assuming you or the previous owner swapped them to NAS style instead of the standard lights.

rickdulas
Hi To change the subject slightly, does anyone know where I can buy the clear lenses for these lights? I can only find suppliers for the whole light unit. Cheers Rick
western
lens & back housing is one piece, you can't just by the clear lens on thier own. bolton-bits or kbx stock them I believe.
Litch
Practically any LR parts supplier sells them and you can use an orange bulb in the white lights for indicators but you will be stuck when it comes to stop/tail. They are really cheap (only around £3-4 a light) but as Western says the lense/body is bonded together so you have to buy the whole lot, the only part available separately is the bulb holder. Genuine manufacturer is Le Perei but Wipac have been making them for years now as well. If you really want white lenses then go for the Le Perei full LED units, they are available with either coloured or white lenses however they are quite pricey but are excellent pieces of kit (far nicer than the BOB units in my opinion) and of course Le Perie are an OE supplier. I fitted a full set of 12 NAS lights to my 90 about 10-years ago and a few years after that replaced the front indicators for white units. About 2-years ago I junked the old lights and fitted the Le Perie full LED units and have been very pleased.
rickdulas
Thanks guys. I've actually fitted these to the rear of mine, but totally forgot they were one piece!!! I'll get round to the front one day Rick
Retroanaconda
Strangely I prefer the look of standard lights over NAS ones....I think the NAS ones look too big for the space they're going in. For those in the know, what was the reason for the different spec NAS lights? Is it as simple as US DOT regulations regarding sizes of lenses etc? For US market I believe local vehicle lighting regs took precedent. that's why they are called NAS [North American Specification]
Happyoldgit
Is it as simple as US DOT regulations regarding sizes of lenses etc? Yes, I would imagine it's a US DOT issue.
