stuck
Hi all, I've taken the head off my TD5 and the gasket surfaces are covered in very thin blobs of a silicone like substance that has peeled off the gasket. I've obviously got to clean this off but how abrasive can I afford to be? Scotchbrite? Wire wool? Fine emery? Have tried this wife's kitchen sponge type things and they won't dent it (she will probably dent me when she finds out)
Tetsu0san
I used a nylon scouring pad that you can get from any supermarket or similar. Doesn't scratch the ally head and will get all of that stuff off. Found it worked better when wet too.
western
scotchbrite will shift it then wipe with a degreaser fluid. bits of stubborn gasket can be shaved off with a stanley knife blade used as a scraper at a low angle so it doesn't dig in.
