kiwi_110
What colour is the smoke? Blue = burnt oil = rings, pistons, valve guides etc, an additive "might" reduce this, but a rebuild is inevitable. Black = unburnt diesel = dirty injectors, pump tweaked too high, blocked air filter. Ray.
FridgeFreezer
No additive can fix a knackered engine - at best you'll mask the problem.
Snagger
No additive can fix a knackered engine - at best you'll mask the problem. Except AMT Engine Restore - it microscopically rebuilds your engine so that it doesn't have to be worked on. It says so on the £80 tin, and Quentin Wilson endorses it; his word as a second-hand car salesman has to be taken. Like Fridge says, if you have engine wear that is causing oil burning, then you either have to live with it if it's a small amount or rebuild/replace the engine if it's burning a lot. The only oil additives that make much difference are the oil seal rejuvinators which can help soften and swell a tired and hardened seal.
