stuck
Gents, can the fuel pump as fitted to a 110 Td5 be safely used with petrol? I'd rather ask than find out the hard way Ta, Mick.
ashtray
I wouldn't, diesel acts a lubricant with diesel fuel pumps, and seeing as td5 fuel pumps last 5 mins with the correct fuel running through I wouldnt like to use it with petrol
stuck
Hmm, that's not what iwanted to hear. What are my options? I'm fitting a 4.6 in place of the Td5, if possible I'd like to retain the Td5 tank. Any links to anyone that's done this before would be appreciated. Mick. Buzza
The TD5 pump is more 'involved' than a V8 one, it's a two stage pump, high & low pressure with an air bleed from the filter, four pipes in all, so you would need a V8 one. According to microcat the seal & retainer for the pump are the same for petrol and diesel so the V8 pump would poss fit in the original tank but you will also have to consider the difference in the tanks breather arrangements, as the V8 uses an evap system which the diesel does not. stuck
Thanks Steve, When you say V8 one may fit are you talking early Defender or P38? Cheers, Mick.
FridgeFreezer
Other option is gut a dead TD5 pump and just use it as a fuel pickup/return, with a pump / pumps mounted externally.
Buzza
Thanks Steve, When you say V8 one may fit are you talking early Defender or P38? Cheers, Mick. Defender, WQB100470, I believe is the part number, very expensive new. Worth considering FridgeFreezer's suggestion. Steve
Off Road Toad
The 4.6 will be coming to you with it's fuel pump if thats any help! you'll just need to make an adapter plate to fit it in place of the td5 pump. Steve

As much as possible! the pump would be good and the fuel filter housing if possible as these are unique to TD5's. Not worried about fuel lines as they're different between 90's and 110's anyhow!
