Bowie69
Got a Patrol chassis here, rusted out both rear chassis rails about 3 ft long, crumbly nasty stuff! Plus one patch right in the middle where the join is.

FridgeFreezer
what do you do to the 109's chassis? just keep welding it up or at some point you will have to custom make one?? The rest of it is pretty solid, the outriggers & rear x-member braces were the only ropey bits. Once all the major welding jobs have finished I'll give it a dose of waxoyl or similar. Once upon a time I'd have galvanised it but now I've got a welder and a nice dry shed to park in.
Landy-Novice
but now I've got a welder and a nice dry shed to park in. although i bought a £120 powercraft mig welder and had the same attitude because mine was a complete goner, now it has an mot on it but i no i'll have to weld it every single year, and maybe have to replace it when i get fed up of it, when it ends up like mine, quite thin all over then i there isn't an welding answer suppose you'll just have to get DD to do it do you use this as a daily driver or just an off-roader? 'cos as winter is just over the horizon the salty road really aren't going to help, how would you even go about replace it? build one from scratch? stainless steel? dirtydiesel
what do you do to the 109's chassis? just keep welding it up or at some point you will have to custom make one?? No need now, it should be good for about 5-6 years without any further welding.

VERY similar, except it has no body on this one (Asia Rocsta body about to go on, with a Lexus V8 in it :)) Back to topic, sorry!
FridgeFreezer
I thought something smelt funny on the way home... New exhaust mount is very strong but a little too thermally conductive might have to drill some speed holes in it.

I wonder if 6% co has anything to do with it getting that hot 3 foot from the manifolds?
