Ian Barrett
Hello chaps. Bit of an odd subject this, so I hpe this is the right place for it. I have a Hamer Car Lift, which lifts and lowers by way of 4 x Jackall jacks - one at each corner. All the jacks work fine going up, but one of them is sticky when lowering. As I remember it when lowering normally; the load has been let off, as you lower the handle the bottom lifting pin pops out ready to catch on the hole below and the process starts again. But on the sticky one the lower of the two fat 'lifting' pins doesn't 'ping' out like the others do, but if I wiggle the pin and release if the mechanism lowers and works ok. I've oiled everything with WD40 but its not helped. Any idea why this bottom pin is sticking?
zardos
Have you checked the pin for a lip? Wear might have put a lip on the end of the pin that goes in to the rack and it might be catching and not allowing the pin to easily spring out. Or Bent cross pin? as the pin that goes in to the rack is pushed out by this cross pin (or worn slope that does the pushing?)
Ian Barrett
I honestly didn't know where to start zardos, so I'll check for the things you've suggested and report back.
steve_d
Also try a engine oil or 3 in 1 as WD40 is not a good lubricant. Steve
