110 TD5 brakes in comparison to Discovery TD5?

Recommended Posts

I've just picked up a 110 TD5 and the brakes on it make my Discovery brakes look like F1 performers.

The pedal feels like I expect it should, it just doesn't seem to stop anywhere near as quickly as my Discovery.

Is this how 110 TD5 brakes are or should I add the brakes to my list of things that need looking at?

Well there are good on my 110 td5 but I have never driven a td5 disco so its hard to answer your question. If you think there is something up with them then go with your gut feeling and fix them or get them looked at.

My gut feeling is that something isn't right, but it's my first Defender so i'm in to new territory. Perhaps it has cheap pads fitted? I'll take the wheels off and have a look to see if there's anything obviously amiss.

The 110 doesn't have ABS, but does having ABS increase applied breaking force?

No I dont think ABS makes any difference to the breaking force( we have it on our car and I think the landy has better breaks) its like most things with cars if it feels wrong it probably is.
