Clansman kit

Are there any Clansman experts on here?

I am pondering putting an intercom & radio system into my truck.

The bits can be found quite cheaply on ebay, the ANR stuff being slightly scarcer.

I wouldn't use the military radios, but rather patch it into CB(tx/rx), Scanner (in only) & music (in only)

If there's an expert, pipe up and i'll ask my specific questions..

You don't need a radio to make a veh harness work. Some IB2 or IB3 (interconnecting box 2 way or 3 way) should do. A couple of hearsets and you are away. But IIRC the headsets aren't the most comfy. Or they weren't when worn for hours on end working 1 net and monitoring another. Gets confusing when you have 2 seperate conversations going on with 1 in each ear

Well as mentioned i want

  • intercom functions for at least 2, possibly more later.
  • CB radio Rx & Tx
  • Scanner Rx
  • Audio input if possible

As i understand i would need

  • 1x IB2 or IB3 (If i use an IB2 can i patch in the 3 audio channel some other way?)
  • 1x CB2 (more later)
  • Commanders box?

Ideally i would like the later (yellow face) ANR kit to reduce road noise. headsets are a little difficult to find it seems though.

But one question, are the non-ANR and the ANR boxes at all compatible? Could i for example use a non-ANR IB3 and ANR CB2's together?

Hi,

I'm new to Land Rover ownership and this forum..

I recently bought myself an ex-military 110 FFR hard top. Unfortunately when I got it all the radio kit had been stripped out.

After a long drive down to the New Forest last weekend I have come to the conclusion that even with the sound deadening matting installed (Project Tithonus upgrade) sustained motorway driving is a little tiresome and makes talking to anyone else in the car difficult, especially if they are in the back behind a pile of camping kit.

To this end I want to fit an intercom system to my car and much like HoSS fancy using Clansman kit to do it. The way I see it, this will be in keeping with the character of the vehicle, allow communication with everyone in the car and help save my hearing too...

I have found several circuits and it doesn't look like it will be too difficult to do. IB2 or IB3 connected to two CB2's, one in the front and one in the back.

My only question is whether this system will work off 12 volt rather than the specified 24 volt supply as I sold my 24 volt generator when I thought it was on no use to me...

Thanks in advance.

Wayne
