TD5 (52 plate) Headlight adjustment motors and aircon fan motor

Recommended Posts

Hello - new people here needing some help if possible.

We've got a 52-plate TD5 (facelift edition) that has a couple of issues to sort out but we're a bit stumped right now.

The headlight motors are constantly working whenever the switch is set to positions 1/2/3 - it's fine when set to 0 though.

We can't work out how to get into the headlights or even what this problem might be down to.

Also - problem 2 - The aircon fan motor has seized solid - Any idea if it's possible to 'free' this up or do we need a new motor?

Cheers

Stu

as reguards the airco motor/fan you will probably need a new one, we tried to free one off on a td5 after about two hours we gave up. he found one on e bay. if you decide to take it off remember to use loads of wd40 on the mounting brackets (the bolts have a habit of snapping off due to rust, sorry can't help with the light problem.

I've just taken the fan off my TD5 today as it was seized - and I agree with lyron about the rusty mounting bolts - it took about 2 hours longer than it should trying to persuade them off. My fan is completely seized - I've taken the tin cover off the front and tried loads of easing oil, persuading with mole grips etc. Finally bought one off ebay which is said to be tested & working for £45 shipped which seems reasonable given that a new one is around £180 or so.

If you don't have a copy of RAVE (the digital workshop manual etc) it's well worth getting hold of one as it tells you how to do all these jobs (but was somewhat inaccurate as regards removing the grille on my pre-facelift). RAVE can be downloade free from loads of sites.
