Prop-shaft flange problems

Recommended Posts

Morning 4X4

perhaps some one can help

I recently had to take the front prop-shaft off my vehicle & took it down to a local (specialist) for a replacement - who has gone into receivership with the shaft (hence i have no original)

Drive train configuration is as follows

R380 main box

LT230 Transfer box

both the boxes are from a Discovery I

Classic Range rover front axle

Have just ordered the prop-shaft part no out from paddocks FRC8386 which is a defender / discovery 1 compatible front prop-shaft I have found that the rear coupling is perfect size to fit the transfer box flange

Problem is the flange on the front axle is smaller than the flange on the front end of the prop-shaft

the defender flanges are of identical size its just the axle flange is smaller

anyone out there with any advice

1) is it possible to remove the smaller flange & put a larger (defender) flange on the front axle is so has anyone a part no

1) just buy a new prop-shaft with the defender (larger) flange & a smaller front flange a part no would really help

as delivery was to the continent it doesnt pay to ship the shaft back to the UK

appreciate any help

happy trails
