stuck
As per the title Gent's, if I order a load of parts for the Sertes 1 from Craddocks will it come in blue boxes? I'm talking bearings & seals mainly. Thanks, Mick.
mcc1979ian
99.9% chance it will, most of the stuff i ever ordered from craddocks came in blue boxes/bags. Try LRSeries.com, then at least you get a choice of what make you want.
UdderlyOffroad
No idea. But a website design as bad as John Craddocks I’m afraid doesn’t get my business! LR Direct offer you a choice of the supplier of the bits so you can choose – that’s currently my supplier of choice (as well as Christian Autos local to me). No hidden agenda, just a satisfied customer of the two mentioned.

Julian
For bearings and seals I'd go to Simplybearings, then you can decide between top quality or budget branded - not to 'no-name' crape that comes in blue boxes. Julian.

vulcan bomber
If you email craddocks direct and tell them you want proper stuff then you'll get it. I've nothing but good experience with craddocks. I now use AMD 4x4 and they dont sell any blue box stuff unless you ask for it.. I use
jbs
I went to DLS and Paddocks-In Matlock over the last weekend as i was in nottingham visiting family up there and needed some bits urgently, the guy behind DLS's shop counter was mega helpful and agreed that britpart were bad, I was astounded that when I went through the door of the place all i saw was britpart everywhere-why do they do it it's rubbish I did'nt know wether to walk out or carry on asking for what I needed-luckily they had some genuine lucas indicator switches for my 90 on the shelf, and with paddocks the amount of people walking out with britpart made me cringe, the young guy behind the counter was a little bit amused to say the least that I asked for "No britpart please" as I think even they realise now It's rubbish Buy cheap buy twice!! UdderlyOffroad
To be fair to Paddocks, some of their own-brand stuff e.g. their salisbury diff guard ain't bad for the money, I've got their HD turrets to fit, which again seem good for the ££££ concerned. Let's not get into another bash-the-Britpart thread, it's been done on here countless times before...

stuck
I didn't want to start a Britpart debate. Through experience I've learn't that if it rotates, seals something or is safety critical not to rely on Britpart, yes their stuff is cheap but IMHO it's cheap for a reason. The reason for the post was I've never used JC's so wasn't sure what they supplied. Cheers, Mick.
mcc1979ian
Defo mostly britpart and their not the cheapest around either. Mind its amazing how many suppliers out there actually send out britpart stuff, thats why now i mainly us LRseries or britpart. Not that im suggesting britparts bad, in my experience with their stuff its never let me down.
mcc1979ian
Sorry that should have read britcar
ejparrott
I've never had good experiences with JC, and a friend with a series 1 now avoids, after countless trips from worcester to cannock, after phoning in advance to see if they had XYZ on the shelf, only to get there and find its the wrong part or its not on the shelf. LRSeries are my prefered supplier these days, then LRDirect - both of whom offer choices of manufacturer, and then AMD in Leicester, but last time I looked their website was still down. Julian
LRSeries are my prefered supplier these days, then LRDirect - both of whom offer choices of manufacturer, and then AMD in Leicester, but last time I looked their website was still down. LR Series I have used in the past, having discovered that their 'customer relations' department is headed up by Atilla the Hun I now use Britcar who I find very good. Britpart's website now features a 'chat box' so you can get to communicate with someone 'real-time' if you need help. Julian
M&S
a 'chat box' so you can get to communicate with someone 'real-time' if you need help. Julian Don't see the point in that when you can ask on a forum pick up the phone
Julian
Don't see the point in that when you can ask on a forum pick up the phone I have phoned in the past and I've found them obviously busy and feel like I'm a hindrance with some daft enquiry. 'Live Chat' is good as they can reply as and when able and also it's free unlike the phone. I have Luddite tendencies too, but in this case I'd say 'don't knock it 'til you've tried it!' It seems to be getting more common now, on this site that I use (if memory serves) http://www.4secondsflat.com/ a little box pops up with 'Hi I'm Larry, can I be of assistance?' You can ignore it if you wish. Julian.
Team Idris
Just found a place called dingocroft which is a fairly odd name. But it has Delphi wheel cylinders and girling kits by the picture. I bought Craddock Britpart ones the other day as I don't know wherer to get the steel ones anymore. Are they really going to be a proper make on an on-line web site? I got so fed up with parabolic spring choce on-line I went 15 mile down the road to Jones springs. I might get a kicking, but at least I know where to complain (Actually, they are exactly what I wanted in rating) You'ld be amazed who supplies Britpart with stock. Thats why some stuff is good. Its just knowing which.....
Happyoldgit
Dingocroft have been around for yonks.
forkrentfitter
in fairness if it is series one bits craddock should be fairly safe,i stand to be corrected but do britpart do series one parts?they seem to supply the volume parts and series is now a bit specialist. discomikey
No idea. But a website design as bad as John Craddocks I'm afraid doesn't get my business! a face to face customer service so bad as at craddocks wont ever get my business again, especially when i was after a set of 4 wheels and tyres, some £600+ worth of business, they were rood at best. told me i wasnt aloud a certain tyre size. Britcar for me., Craddocks/Paddocks are pants IMHO ! agreed! britcar are good. especially if you are searching by part number, and they will offer Genuine and pattern parts. John DLS is my local, at 5 miles away, i will buy parts, as their service is good, but i wont go there for MOT's after they told me all 4 wheel bearings needed replacing when it was just the sound of the brake shoe touching the drums. and that from a specialist... My ideal parts, and advice place, especially for series vehicles, but also for any other model, is John Richards in Hinstock, hands down. at less than 7 miles from uni, and with great customer service, especially for frequent repeat buyers, and club, (well harper adams) parts discount. and they dont even supply britpart wheelbearings anymore!!! =jon=
Dingocroft are pretty local to me - they are very helpful if you call them up, and really know their stuff. Some of the stuff does come in blue boxes, but if you ask when you order you can probably get an alternative...
