Mean Green
I am looking at options for the front on my D1. The main purpose of the vehicle is to be an offroad toy and I therefore want to improve the front clearance and remove the under bumper skirt/spoiler effort. I could go for HD type bumpers etc but at present budget will not allow. I have a very early (1972) RRC front bumper before the days of end caps, but it doesn't quite look right from the side - the front wing look like something is missing (ie the end cap) ... so would a later RRC end cap fit either the 1972 bumper or the D1 bumper - or should I just fit a complete RRC bumper with ends? SPendrey
I simply trimmed off the plastic skirt piece, leaving the rest of the end cap still there. At least, that was until I fitted a winch bumper! Can't find a picture of it now though... may still have one at home somewhere that I'll post later. godzilla84
just trim the discovery corner pieces. thats the best option for ground clearance/approach angle without spending any money. if its a 300tdi there should be a pretty obvious line on the corner that you cut from. The 200tdi is less obvious but still simple.
Mean Green
What is best to cut it with? (it is a 200)

godzilla84
I cut mine with a fine angle grinder disc (I had just cut the bolts for the side steps when i did it) and it did a pretty tidy job. With it being a 200tdi i would put some masking tape along the line you want to cut and mark it.
