SteveG
on a rope that already has a hook and thimble on the other end?? Must be a different technique than normally used. Can anyone enlighten me. It's for my extension rope. Thanks Steve

SteveG
yeah, I've seen the ruftracks method before. I wasn't sure how secure it is as it is just weaving the ropes in and out and no-one else seems to adopt that method. Cheers Steve

SteveG
ok then it looks like this is the one to use. Trev The Pirate 4x4 one, (Scott at rockstomper.com) is not possible when you have a thimble and hook on, although it does seem to be most popular and most secure method. white90
It is possible steve and fairly easy. go around the thimble through the rope then back up the centre a few strands higher up I've spliced mine this way and nothing has come adrift,
BogMonster
I used David Bowyers method from his website for the 3 I have done to date. It is the neatest way and there seems to be no problem with the strength of the splice
