Hi

I've have finally decided to ditch the TDI and go V8 instead on my projekt.

This means that I alsohave to change the gearbox and figured that its got to be the LT85.

Until today I thought that the Solid case was the strongest, but now I have read that its the later splitcase thats the strongest ?

Whats your upinion ? Is the LT85 a good choise and should it be the solid or splitcase OR something else ? (not auto)

Cheers

Morten

Thanks guys

Thats what I thought, but began hearing othervise.

Is the LT85 the choice or should I look at something else like R380 suff. L ?

The car is a Range Rover based LightWeight and the engine is placed close to the bulkhead, hence the gearstick have to be placed in a forward position.

Morten, irrespective of bellhousing length, the transfer boxes are in the same place, and therefore the main box is too. There is one tunnel for LT77 which is small and narrow, another unique to the LT85 (much wider and dips down narrow at the back), then the R380 (wide over its entire length). The shifter opening on the R380 is a good 50mm further forward than the LT85. This is to suit the positioning of the transfer and main gear levers on each box.
